A science teacher in Wallingford, accused of having a sexual relationship with a teenager appeared in court Wednesday.  Police said 35-year-old Mario Fusco, of Middlebury, turned himself in to police Tuesday after police issued a warrant for his arrest.Investigators said a 19-year-old came to them and admitted to having a relationship with Fusco beginning when she was 14-years-old.Police said they served a search warrant on Sunday and seized several items from the home that may be related to the case.Police said to the best of their knowledge the victim was not a student in the Wallingford School District where Fusco has worked since 2000 or the Wallingford Alternative High School where he teaches science.  “Obviously, we recognize the fact he is a teacher in our district.   And were trying to reach out to him to have a conversation and take the appropriate actions that are necessary,” said School Superintendent Salvatore Menzo.

A Marysville School District teacher’s aide has been arrested after being accused of having a sexual relationship with a special needs student she had known for years.

Elizabeth Wallis, 35, was taken into custody Wednesday evening after her family suspected the relationship between her and the alleged victim had taken an inappropriate turn.

Wallis had taught the 17-year-old boy when he was a student at Yuba Gardens School in Olivehurst in the eighth grade but went too far in the past two months, according to investigators.

The Yuba County Sheriff’s Department began investigating after Wallis’ family reported the relationship. The alleged sexual acts took place off-campus, authorities said.

The victim’s mother said she knew Wallis well and trusted her before learning of the allegations.

“The lady was my friend, a very close friend. So I thought,” said the victim’s mother. “It’s horrible. I can’t believe it. I can’t even think.”

The victim’s mother said she is concerned about the well-being of her son and said Wallis took advantage of him for her own selfish reasons.

“How dare that woman do that to my child?” she said. “He’s an ED student, she’s a teacher’s aide, she knows better. And now, he’s in love with her.”

The Marysville School District has been notified of Wallis’ arrest. Investigators said they don’t believe there are any other victims.

Wallis is facing charges of unlawful sex with a minor and oral copulation.

A former teacher at a Fauquier County middle school has been sentenced to more than 17 years in prison for producing child pornography by filming himself engaging in sexual activity with a student.

Thirty-four-year-old Scott C. Howe, who taught at Cedar Lee Middle School, was convicted at a bench trial earlier this year. Howe used a video camera on multiple occasions to document sexual activity between himself and a teenage student who had been assigned to him for special instruction.

Howe plied the victim with alcohol and filmed some of the sex acts at the school.

Howe’s defense lawyer called the crime an aberration and said “something snapped.”

The term of 17.5 years was less than what prosecutors sought but more than the mandatory minimum of 15 years.

SNELLVILLE, Ga. — A woman who had been voted Teacher of the Year at a Gwinnett County high school has resigned amid allegations she had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student.

Records obtained by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution show 29-year-old Keenon Aampay Hall left her job as an English teacher at Shiloh High School after being accused of seducing a student who came to her for help with homework.

An investigative file shows the student, who is a graduating senior, claims Hall gave him gifts and pressured him to get her pregnant.

When he declined, the student’s family says Hall gave him a failing grade, prompting him to report the relationship to officials.

Hall’s mother, Connie Hall, says her daughter resigned for medical reasons.
